When I started teaching last year, I noticed a lack of resources for the new IB Chemistry 2025 curriculum. While plenty of materials exist for the individual topics, none of them felt like they provided enough context or depth for me to confidently teach the content or for students to use as effective review. Over the past year, I’ve been creating and refining my own materials for both myself and my students. Now, in my second year, I finally feel ready to share them.
I hope these resources help fellow teachers deliver the curriculum with confidence and save time on lesson prep. I also hope struggling IB Chemistry students can use these slides, whether for review or self-study, to feel as prepared as possible for both their class exams and the external IB exams.
You can explore the site using the subpages in the top bar:
Order of Teaching – This tab outlines the order in which I teach the topics, grouped into units for in-class exams. Like in other IB subjects, every teacher structures their course differently for various reasons, this is just the approach that works for me.
Lesson Materials – Probably what most of you are here for! This is where you'll find everything I use for each lesson in every unit. Each lesson includes:
A Google Slides presentation with detailed explanations and examples throughout
2 Quizlet sets: 1 for vocabulary and 1 for active recall practice based on the lesson content
Practice problems specific to the lesson, along with the corresponding answer key.
The materials for each unit are divided into SL and HL separately, designed for classrooms where students are taught by level.
IA and EE – For those further into the course, this tab includes everything I’ve learned about delivering and succeeding at the IA under the new criteria as well as the EE. You'll find:
Exemplars from the TSM
Slides I use in class to guide students through the IA process
A Google Doc summarizing key takeaways from Subject Reports, highlighting feedback that still applies under the updated criteria.
The pacing I use for the students for their IA
References - Contains embedded versions of the 2025 Subject Guide, 2025 Data Booklet, & The Official IB Document with 13 Evaluated Scenarios of AI
Additional Resources – This section contains extra materials for both students and teachers that might be helpful such as labs and cheat sheets for common question types. It also previews additional resources available for purchase, such as original unit and end-of-semester exams (only available after the completion of the semester in question), to help support my work.
This site is a work in progress and will be updated throughout the semester as I teach both years simultaneously. Major updates will be posted in the Site Updates tab, but if you’d like more frequent updates as materials are uploaded, you can subscribe to my mailing list for a weekly email (linked in the banner).
